The belief of a deity in Tahara Major (a large island that forms part of Great Neseria) is not universal.

The Blue Flower Nation do not believe in a deity. The closest equivalents are the Neserian species as a whole (who ascended) and the incumbent reincarnation of the original enlightened Mother-General.

Sun and Blaze Nations Link to heading

The Sun and Blaze Nations believe in Nesah, who created the Neserians from his brain, the Taharans from his heart, the Draruks from his hands, and the Sightless from his feet. He was satisfied with the Neserians guiding the other three species. This is called Nesahism.

However, after seeing how the Neserians began making their own humans using Obelisks, Nesah sent a messenger in the form of a Taharan to warn them. The messenger was enslaved, abused, and eventually killed. In his fury, Nesah made all Neserians Corrupt. He promoted the Taharans to become the new brain, the Draruks to become the heart, and Grey Ones to become the hands—the Sightless remained the feet.

After using up his power, Nesah became tired. While he rested, he would still make Taharans Corrupt to remind them what would happen should they try to assume godlike powers. When Nesah was ready to command his followers, he would send a new messenger who might be a Taharan, a Draruk, a Grey One, or a Sightless. For that reason, charity is to be extended to all those in need.

To the Sun and Blaze Nations, there is only one god. To the Lime Nations, there are many. New Neserianism is based on Para Neserianism, the religion of the Neserians that was practised by the Underground Neserians.

Para Neserianism suggests there are four gods who occupy a realm beyond the physical world (two Neserians, a Draruk, and a Taharan).

New Neserianism says that there are eight gods (four having ascended from Earth) in the Pantheon: four men, four women—two from each intelligent human species:

  • Nesah (male Sightless) – the former male Neserian god who became/transformed into a Sightless. He is the god of war, the sky, and power. Nesah is depicted with or without eyes depending on classical or progressive interpretations.
  • Vaydana (female Sightless) – the former female Neserian god who became a Sightless. Vaydana is the former wife of Nesah. Vaydana is the god of love, friendship, and beauty. Vaydana exists in Nesahism as the consort of Nesah who tried to overthrow him, hence why Nesah took away the Sightless’s eyes. For that, Vaydana lost her godhood in Nesahism.
  • Mino (male Grey One) – loyal servant of Nesah. One of four gods added after Neserian Zero. Mino is the god of the wilderness, agriculture, and nature. Mino is commonly depicted with Gryth, a tamed male Grey One. Traditionally, Gryth is depicted as a loyal companion of Mino no more important than Mino’s animals. Some progressive sects have depicted Gryth as sharing the same face as Mino and interpreting Mino as having two bodies: the wild and the tribal.
  • Mina (female Grey One) – sexual partner of Nesah. One of four gods added after Neserian Zero. Mina is the god of harmony, peace, and family.
  • Sun (male Taharan) – god of the sun, weather and water. Viewed by the Nesahists as not a god but a genius Taharan who will succeed Nesah when he is ready.
  • Moon (female Taharan) – wife of Dar. One of four gods added after Neserian Zero. The god of wisdom, justice, and commerce.
  • Dar (male Draruk) – husband of Moon. One of four gods added after Neserian Zero. The god of innovation, fire, and craft.
  • Ruk (female Draruk) – sister of Ruk. The god of travel, communications, and diplomacy. Viewed by Nesahists as not a god but a loyal engineer and friend of Nesah.

To New Neserianists, no god is above another. They are all equals and reign together. However, some Lime subnations exclusively worship a specific god or gods (their patrons) while recognising the others. For example, the Mino Lime seek the patronage of Mina and Mino while Sherdan Lime seek the patronage of Nesah.

Among non–Pelmont Nation peoples, First Neserianism is the belief in the Neserians as gods. This belief is more common among the more primitive tribes.
